Committed to Reach Garden at Powhatan Hill
February 17 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Help us finish (for now) enhancing the Committed to Reach Garden at Powhatan Hill! Earlier this fall the Ginter Urban Gardener program began installing paths for community members to use the space more socially. Volunteers will continue that work by assisting with constructing our shade structure by setting posts, installing shade sails and laying a garden stone floor for the area. We also are planting a living fence to border the garden, building a learning bed for growing veggies and preparing the existing raised beds for the spring.
Volunteers should wear sturdy, close toed shoes, and clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. They should also make sure to protect themselves from the sun with hats and sun screen, as well as bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. The activity will involve walking on uneven pathways and lifting up to 30 lbs. No expertise with building is necessary and we’ll provide the tools as well as snacks and refreshment.
