The 7 year old garden has 27 raised beds growing food and increasing healthy food access for the community. They have a community of gardeners that coordinate workshops for youth and adults on environmental awareness and the benefits of urban agriculture.
The McDonough Community Garden is an off grid site without any access to electricity. As a result their efforts to efficiently irrigate the garden are limited to gravity fed drip irrigation. Crowfunding funds will support the installation of two Aquabarrel Turborain Solar Powered water pumps that will allow them to irrigate the garden in a more efficient and sustainable way.
